N’goni are West African rhythm harps. ‘Kamale’ can be translated as youth, so the Kamalengoni is said to be the harp of the new generation to play modern arrangements on, rather than the traditional compositions.

Up here in NQ, Albert and Hiro have been handcrafting these enchanting instruments, and last year they have made success on actually growing their own gourds in Magnetic Island.

It took around 10 months from seeds to dried and ready gourds.



These Ngoni harps are very easy to learn, you can actually create your own music just by relaxing your mind, body and soul, and let your index and thumb fingers do their job naturally.
